MURFREESBORO — Bearden High School’s volleyball team was affected by more than one power outage Wednesday night in the Class AAA state tournament at Middle Tennessee State’s Alumni Memorial Gymnasium.

The off-court one that lasted nearly three hours and forced a change in venues was one thing; the on-court power outages hit Bearden a lot harder.

Playing more than six hours after the start of their first game at Murphy Center, the Lady Bulldogs lost 3-1 to Siegel in a second-round match at Alumni Gym.

Bearden (22-16) won the first set before falling 25-27, 26-24, 25-11, 25-19. The Lady Bulldogs now will face Houston in a 12:30 p.m. elimination game at Blackman High School.

“We got comfortable,” Bearden coach Zach Forgani said. “I’m not going to blame (the outage), but sitting around all day did not help us. It’s tough to come back after losing a set like that (third one).”
